Variety ''bird cage'' (pl. 1 ul, pos. 48)

Showpiece never hinged lower corner block of ten containing the very rare "bird cage" variety at position 48 (middle stamp of the last row, see full-size image for a better look)!

A red arrow is partially visible on the lower left corner, which served as a cutting guide back then and it is now also proving that this block did indeed come from the upper left sheet inside the plate (where the variety is found)!

This is easily one of the most sought-after varieties by advanced Canadian collectors and it is fantastic to find it in this corner block of ten, as it nicely shows the position of the variety and it will also attract plate block collectors at the same time!

PS: No premium was counted for the corner block, only the value of the individual stamps was added together, but it should be worth a significative premium in our opinion, as this is the first and only example we have ever seen on the whole market!
