Canada Stamp #720i - Red Oak (1978) 30¢
Variety "winter leaf" (colour shift)
SKU: CAN-0720I
Mint - Very Fine Never Hinged
(M-VFNH)
Listed in a footnote under the #720 inside the catalogue for $10, the "winter leaf" variety is caused by a minor colour shift of the red photoengraved ink layer, exposing a bit of white paper at the tip of the leaves (looking like snow). It is therefore not a constant plate variety, but a small printing error, which means the location of the "snow" can vary depending on the copy (#720i is our internal code). A nice affordable variety worthy of any collection!
