Description
Until the 1980s, most Canadian stamps were printed on uncoated paper. This paper is rough and dull. As printing techniques evolved from single-colour engraved stamps to multi-colour stamps printed by lithography or photoengraving, new paper coatings became necessary to facilitate the application of ink to the surface of the paper. The result was coated paper. This paper has a glossy, lustrous appearance.
