The Dinosaurs
Collectible dinosaur postage stamps from by Canada, Australia and New Zealand. People were finding dinosaur bones for hundreds of years before they were recognized for what they were - the huge bones were thought to come from elephants or giant humans! Then, in 1822, an English doctor decideed that his discoveries of fossilized teeth and bones were from an ancient form of giant reptile. In 1841, scientists eventually recognized disonaurs as a unique group of extinct animals. Contains Scott number 1498a.
